NEW NATIONAL CHAMPIONS FOR 2011

Congratulations to all the finalists. You have all worked hard to reach the grand final.
The 2011 grand final has finished with two new champions. The champion female for 2011 is Puna Ririnui from Goodman Fielder in Brisbane and champion male is Jamie Kedde from Woolworths Sydney. Both were very excited by their win and now have a silver trophy and bragging rights. Both will receive $1500 prize money for their effort. On the day anyone of the 19 could win as all had previously won a State, regional or in-house heat.

The event was held at the Materials Handling Exhibition held in conjuction with the Sydney Safety Show at Homebush Sydney. The host Association was the Australian warehousing Association. The 2010 Champions Pamela Windsor and Mark Gray defended their title against a highly experienced group of finalists.  This year saw a greater number of female entrants which is a most positive outcome.  Often there is little difference in operating knowledge and skills between both genders.

The Daily telegraph has a short video on the event at www.thetelegraph.com.au.  A new tab for 2011 will be set up on this soon providing pictures and scores for all finalists. The course timeframe for 2011 was set at 15 minutes. A perfect score would be zero. Jamie Kedde finished his course in 9 minutes with a score of 15 points.  Puna Ririnui took 13 minutes with a score of 23 points.
